Grunny Grunberg - Projects

The transition from "Felicity" to "Alias" was pretty easy.

  • J.J. Abrams: "I want you to be Eric Weiss."

    Me: "I'm in."

  • Grunny Grunberg - Projects Alias

I knew "Alias" was going to be amazing.

Grunny Grunberg - Projects Alias

The first time I read the script I knew "Alias" was going to be amazing. J.J. is a genius at making a high-concept spy drama still be about a father /daughter relationship. I already knew Jennifer Garner from "Felicity," and I remember saying to her that "Alias" was going to be absolutely huge, and how good she was going to be in the role. And she was - she took it to another level that no one expected.

All the actors were such pros…Jennifer Garner, Ron Rifkin, Victor Garber, Carl Lumbly and Michael Vartan …these were seasoned actors and so good that they took me to another level. Not only did I have to bring my "A" game, but I got even better by working with them.

And we had so much fun. Vartan is such a freaking goofball, but such a great actor. And Kevin Weisman is SO FUNNY. Ron Rifkin, Victor Garber, Bradley Cooper…they've become family and I really cherish the years that I got to work with all of them.

I thought I learned a lot on "Felicity" until I started working on "Alias," and I realized, "Oh this is the real deal." Not that "Felicity" wasn't the real deal – but on "Alias" it was like, "Okay, now I have to learn foreign languages and names and I have to go from 0 to 100 in a blink of an eye." I mean, one second you're talking about calzone pizza, and the next it's the end of the world.
