It all Started with a Phone Call...

David Shore, the creator of "House," is an old friend of mine who wanted me to guest star on the show. So he'd call me with all these diseases and medical conditions:

• David: "Ok, here’s this guy who has a rash on his leg…"

  Me: "Nah, I won't play that."

  David: "Ok, there's this man who actually thinks he's pregnant…"

  Me: "Nah. "

  David: "Here's a guy who has this flu that just won't go away and turns out he's growing another person on his back…"

  Me: "No no no."

  David: "Ok, we have this great role, and you'd be working with Howard Hesseman. It's about this guy whose wife dies and needs a heart transplant."

  Me: "Ok, done. You had me at Howard Hesseman."

And then I Met Hugh

Hugh Laurie and I just hit it off. I was a huge fan so I knew that he played music, and I asked him to play in Band From TV. He introduced me to Jesse Spencer, a rock and roll fiddle player who's also on "House." And the rest is history.

So I owe half my band to the creator of  "House."
